Stage 4 Water Restrictions Lifted for the Comox Valley Water System
Stage 4 water restrictions have been lifted for the Comox Valley Water System. Restrictions were in place from April 12 to 22 during an emergency repair on a large water pipe. The CVRD would like to thank the community for doing their part to conserve water and ensure the repair was a success.
Current Water Restrictions
There are currently no water restrictions. The Comox Valley Water System will move to annual Stage 1 restrictions on May 1, 2019.
When Do We Need Water Restrictions?
These restrictions are necessary to help ensure there is enough water available for fish flows, domestic needs and fire protection.
Residents connected to the Comox Valley Water System rely on water drawn from Comox Lake through BC Hydro power generation infrastructure. We are fortunate to have Comox Lake as the source for our drinking water, but the lake does not offer an infinite supply of fresh water. Learn more about why water restrictions are needed.
Local Service Area Restrictions
Royston Water Service, Denman Island Water Service and Black Creek-Oyster Bay Water Service are connected to separate water systems and may have different restrictions in place. Click the button below to read about water restrictions in these communities.

Reporting Water Restriction Infractions
Compliance with these restrictions is very important. Non-compliance will make demands on the pipe untenable and the system may not be able to supply the water needed for indoor and firefighting use. If water use extends beyond the system’s capacity, a “do not use” order would need to be issued for the duration of the repairs.
