Notification: The EQ Basin at the Water Treatment Plant is exptected to be in use this week.

Due to heavy rainfall and high tides the Equalization Basin (EQ Basin) will be in use during adverse weather conditions forecasted for this week. This basin is a back-up measure to ensure that treatment and discharge systems work properly during storm events like we are experiencing now. It holds excess wastewater so that all inflow is treated properly before being discharged into the ocean. At the request of the Curtis Road Residents Association those neighbours who have signed up for alerts will be notified when the basin is in use. We will remove this notice when whether forecasts improve and the basin is no longer expected to be in use.

These notifications are intended to inform you in advance about planned maintenance that could result in noise or odour impacts, as well as unplanned operational issues that are longer than 1 day in duration.
