Due to planning delays, the Resiliency Centre will be opening on Tuesday, February 10. Further information such as specific locations and times will be posted to this page on Monday, February 9.

The Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will remain open at the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) with the purpose of continuing to support registered evacuees and coordinate the transition from response to recovery activities.
As part of recovery, the group lodging facility will close Thursday, February 5 at 9 am and a Resiliency Centre will be opening on Monday, February 9. Supports have been organized with external partners to aid registered evacuees that self identified as needing extra help during this transition. The Resiliency Centre will be helping registered evacuees navigate the community supports available to them.
Details regarding the location and time for the Resiliency Centre will be available by noon, Friday, February 6.
Residents affected by the flooding can visit the CVRD website for available resources on flood debris management. Clean-Up kits were kindly donated by the Canadian Red Cross. Each kit includes a mop, sponges, brooms, gloves and other supplies that can be used to safely clean flood-damaged homes and property.
Clean-Up Kits can be picked up at the Merville Firehall (7350 Island Highway) during the following times:
- Thursday, February 5 | 1 – 6pm
- Friday, February 6 | 1 – 6 pm
- Saturday, February 7 | 9 – 2 pm
- Sunday, February 8 | 9 – 2 pm

Effective noon, February 3, 2026 the State of Local Emergency is cancelled by the Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre. The State of Local Emergency had been in effect since Friday, January 30, 2026 to support emergency response to flood conditions in the Comox Valley.
The Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will remain open at the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) with the purpose of continuing to support registered evacuees and coordinate the transition from response to recovery activities.
The current weather conditions have improved and the flood watches have ended which has allowed the Comox Valley Emergency Operations Centre to begin transitioning towards the recovery phase.
Emergency Operations Centre Releases Re-Entry Information for Evacuees - January 31, 2026 (5:30 pm)
The Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has released re-entry information for evacuees due to the recent flooding and continues to monitor weather forecasts for any shift in conditions.
The current weather conditions have improved and the flood watches have ended which has allowed the Comox Valley Emergency Operations Centre to begin transitioning towards the recovery phase.
Flooding Event Update - January 31, 2026 (11:45 am)
The Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) advises that Evacuation Alerts have been cancelled and all Evacuation Orders have been rescinded for areas affected by recent flooding in the City of Courtenay and Electoral Area B, effective 11:45 a.m. on January 31, 2026.
Original Event information:
A flood warning was in effect for Dove Creek and nearby areas due to very heavy, localized rainfall.
Water levels in Dove Creek rose rapidly and continued increase in the following hours. At the Dove Creek near the mouth monitoring station, flows were measured at 161 m³/s, which is higher than what is expected during a 100-year flood event.
