  • There is a 50 per cent registration fee for each course. The registration fees will be reimbursed after successful completion of probation. The probation period is 480 hours worked or one year from the first day of employment ($1,800 value)
• Opportunity for a part-time position with the CVRD as a Lifeguard/Instructor earning $24.86 per hour during probation, then $26.17 per hour upon successful completion of probation plus 6% vacation pay and 6.5 % in lieu of benefits (March 2024 rates as per Collective Agreement)

• Earn High School Credits

• Must be 15 years of age by completion of National Lifeguard course.
• Must be able to commit to the training dates of the program courses.
• Must be able to demonstrate Swim for Life - Swimmer Level 9 before the start of the program
• Must be able to meet the swim test requirement from Bronze Medallion (400 metres in 12 minutes) and Bronze Cross (400 metres in 11 minutes) by the completion of the courses.
• Must have satisfactory work availability for both scheduled and on-call shifts.
• Looking for growth, learning and skill development opportunities within the CVRD.

High school students can earn credit towards graduation while working towards their first career. This program recognizes the 100+ hours of education and training for Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard starting at Bronze Medallion. It rewards the work and dedication of those who strive to step onto the deck to protect the lives of others and the beginning of their aquatics career.
