Update May 24, 2019
Sandwick Waterworks Conversion is Complete
The Sandwick Waterworks Conversion project is now complete, and the Sandwick area is fully connected to the Comox Valley Water System.
On May 17, 2019, final flushing was completed for all water mains after completion of the final tie-ins. The purpose of the water main flushing was to reduce any natural sediment that had built up within the pipes. With the previous well water system, the flows and pressures required to complete a comprehensive flush could not be generated, which led to significant sediment build-up within the system over the years.
Now that the Sandwick area is connected to the Comox Valley water system, flushing will be done on an annual basis to prevent the same level of sediment buildup in future years, which should significantly improve water quality.
We apologize for the project taking so long, and thank you for your time and patience.
