Common CVRD Questions

• How do I apply for a position?

  Applicants can apply by selecting the desired posting, fill out the Apply to Position form at the bottom of posting page, and attaching a cover letter and resume.

• Will my resume be kept on file for future postings?

  At this time we cannot keep resumes on file.  Applicants must apply directly to positions of interest.

• Is it beneficial to submit copies of my certifications, education etc?

  Education and certification confirmations are not required at the application stage. If applicable, candidates would be asked to bring these in at the interview stage.

• How do I check the status of my application?

  You will be sent an automatic notification once you have submitted your application. The status for any active posting is shown on our Current Opportunities page with one of the following statuses:

  • Open = applications being accepted
  • Screening = applications being reviewed
  • Interviewing = shortlisted candidates have been contacted
  • Filled  = position filled
  • Rescinded = position no longer being recruited for
• How do I find out the name of the hiring manager so I can address my cover letter to them?

  All postings are managed by our Human Resources department. Applications should be addressed to:

• How do I know my application has been received?

  You will receive an acknowledgement message after you apply.

• Can I apply for a position late or past the application deadline date?

  Late applications are not accepted.  Postings that are closed will have their status changed to either Screening, Interviewing, or Filled.

• How do I set up job alerts?

  You can either sign up for email alerts or RSS alerts.  Go to the Current Opportunities page and select either Subscribe to Notifications (email) or RSS.

• Will my privacy be protected when I submit my application?

  Please review our Privacy Statement.

• I would like to edit a resume and application I have previously submitted for a position. How can I do that?

  At this time, cover letters and resumes cannot be edited after they are uploaded to a posting.  Applicants will need to re-apply.

• Can I submit a paper resume?

  To help us reduce paper use and meet our sustainability goals, we strongly encourage applications to be submitted via online form only. If applicants are unable to do, hardcopy applications may still be dropped off at the main office 770 Harmston Avenue location before the posting deadline.

• When can I expect to hear about an interview?

  Following the closing date, all applications are reviewed and a shortlist is prepared based on the posted qualifications. Human Resources will typically contact shortlisted applicants within two weeks of the posting’s closing date. We appreciate all applications; however, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
