Public engagement is a critical part of the decision-making process. Each week, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) makes decisions that affect the lives of people who live, work and play in the region. This is why, in 2016, the CVRD Board of Directors approved a Public Engagement Policy to establish a formal approach for the CVRD to develop and execute public engagement plans.
The Public Engagement Strategy provides the framework that staff use to determine when engagement is required, the level of public participation and influence the public can have, and the design and implementation of a meaningful engagement process.
As an organization, our goal is that all public engagement must be done with purpose, be organized, and be genuine. We encourage all residents of the CVRD to explore what opportunities are currently available for public participation and engagement in local and regional governance.
