Water will be flushed at a high velocity through the pipes to remove minor sediment, helping to keep the drinking water system safe and clean for residents. During flushing, sediment in the pipes may become stirred up, temporarily causing cloudiness or discolouration in the water, which may affect activities such as laundry, dishwashing and showering. Residents are also encouraged to avoid using hot water during this time, as discoloured or cloudy water can be drawn into hot water tanks.
Once flushing is completed, residents are advised to run their cold water tap until the water runs clear before resuming their usual activities.
