• Infrastructure Upgrades

  During the summer months, much work was done to improve the systems that make the Comox Valley Sports and Aquatic Centres better.

  Thanks to new pool filtration upgrades and air handlers, the Aquatic Centre is more efficient, uses fewer greenhouse gases, and has improved water quality.

  We’ve also replaced the tile, insulation and lighting in the steam room and deck showers, updated the gender-neutral changerooms, and reduced our use of chemical through the chemical room renovations.

  A new hybrid heat pump in the Sports Centre alone will save 8 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. We are also installing new air handlers and heat pumps on the Aquatic Centre roof, to replace aging equipment.

• Programming

  The Comox Valley Sports and Aquatic Centres are home to weekly classes, training, clubs, special events, rehab therapy and open swim and skate times. From waves to waterslides, public skates to drop-in hockey, the facilities are hoping with activities.

  Each week we offer:

  • 168 swim classes: Serving up to 1,100 students in swim lessons 
  • 10 aquatic clubs: Annually hosting up to 188 members 
  • 17 aquafit classes: Bringing in around 700 participants 
  • 34 hours of wave and waterslide access during Everyone Welcome swims
  • 38 hours of rehab and therapy (no waves)
  • 100 hours of heat zone access for relaxation and recovery
  • 24 skate lessons teaching 150 students on the ice each week
  • 15 hours public skate time offering ample time for the community to enjoy skating
  • 10 drop-in hockey slots: Casual games for hockey enthusiasts
  • 300 participants took lifeguard training in the past year and we hosted 50 youth-oriented pizza parties, movie nights and special events.
• Registration Information

  Ready to register? You can sign up or purchase a membership in person at one of our locations during operating hours, by phone, or online.

  Memberships are available in 10-visit, 1-month, 3-month, 6-month and 1-year memberships and include access to CVRD Sports and Aquatic Centres pools, fitness centres and arenas during public session. Membership fees take into consideration the shorter arena season and pool shutdowns. Pre-authorized monthly payment plans are available for one-year memberships.

  The Comox Valley Sports Centre has something for everybody. It includes two full-size ice surfaces, a six-lane, 25-metre pool, a wellness centre/weight room, sauna, whirlpool, 400-metre outdoor sports track and field, meeting/multi-purpose rooms, and is fully wheelchair accessible.

  The Comox Valley Aquatic Centre is fully wheelchair accessible and features a wave/leisure pool with two waterslides, an eight-lane, 25-metre pool, sauna, whirlpool, steam room, along with a fitness studio/weight room, meeting/multipurpose rooms and swim shop.

• About the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds

  The Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds (CVEG) consists of 40 acres of developed areas and natural park settings, making it a major hub for many types of activities including equestrian events, dog shows, curling bonspiels, community fairs and musical events.
