Greenwood Trunk Sanitary Sewer Line

Construction began in June on the Greenwood Trunk Sanitary sewer collection line, which will increase capacity in the region’s sewer service. The new line will bypass the Courtenay pump station and move wastewater from East Courtenay and CFB Comox directly to the sewage treatment plant on Brent Road. Diverting wastewater away from the Courtenay pump station will help to accommodate future growth in the community.

News Bulletins/Road Closures

Current Notices:
  • Paving will be occuring on Ryan Road on September 27 and 28. Expect single alternating lanes of traffic.
  • Sewer main work on Ryan Road is now complete.
  • Construction is underway around Military Row/Rose Ave and Hardhack Street (near 19 Wing arena and neighbouring park). Construction here is expected to continue through September. Little traffic disruption is expected during this time.

Project Background

The Greenwood Trunk Sanitary Sewer Collection Line will increase capacity in the Comox Valley Sewer Service by relieving pressure on the Courtenay Pump Station. This new line will redirect a portion of the City of Courtenay’s wastewater away from the Courtenay pump station by gravity flow to an existing sewer trunk main along Knight Road and then on to the sewage treatment plant.

The project team is working to keep residents up-to-date on project progress and potential disruptions during construction. Please let us know if you have any questions about the Greenwood Trunk Project or if you would like to be added to our project mailing list.
