History
During wetter months the wetland floods, blocking access to the Barbara Road Greenway. In 2008, members of School District #71 and local residents approached the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) to construct and maintain a formal trail within the unopened portion of Barbara Road. A licence was obtained from Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) for public trail purposes, and the elevated boardwalk was constructed in 2010.
Barbara Road Greenway also provides direct access to Seal Bay Park via Grieve Trail.
