Barbara Road Greenway is an elevated boardwalk used by many school children to access Huband Park Elementary School. The greenway crosses through typical coastal wetland vegetation dominated by the hardhack shrubs, Pacific crab apple and cascara trees and farmland grasses.
- Barbara Road right-of-way between Willis Way and Venture Road, northwest of Huband Road
- Lazo North (Electoral Area B)
- 144 metres of trail
- Elevated boardwalk
- Wetlands that flood seasonally
- Hiking only
- Leashing is optional
During wetter months the wetland floods, blocking access to the Barbara Road Greenway. In 2008, members of School District #71 and local residents approached the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) to construct and maintain a formal trail within the unopened portion of Barbara Road. A licence was obtained from Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) for public trail purposes, and the elevated boardwalk was constructed in 2010.
Barbara Road Greenway also provides direct access to Seal Bay Park via Grieve Trail.
