Odour Notification: Pollution Control Centre - May 27, 2026
As part of ongoing remediation efforts following the May 26 environmental spill at the Comox Pump Station, the Comox Valley Regional District will be bringing contaminated material to the Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre for dewatering prior to disposal. The presence of the contaminated material may cause increased odours for several days as remediation efforts continue. Operators will be washing the material as it's brought to site to mitigate potential odour impacts.

The Comox Valley Regional District has added a sewage treatment plant neighbourhood notification list to our Connect Rocket system. This system sends important alerts via both text message and voice call to those who have signed up to receive them. These notifications are intended to inform you in advance about planned maintenance that could result in noise or odour impacts, as well as unplanned operational issues that are longer than 1 day in duration.
