The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is looking for qualified individuals to be members of the Comox Valley Housing Authority Board of Directors. The Comox Valley Housing Authority (CVHA) is a newly formed entity focused on creating non-market rental housing within the Comox Valley.
The creation of the housing authority marks a significant step towards making housing more affordable for low-to-moderate-income residents. The authority will play a central role in planning and facilitating the creation of non-market rental housing projects in collaboration with non-profit community housing partners, local municipalities, senior levels of government, and the private sector.
The CVRD is seeking applications from qualified and committed individuals to serve on the inaugural Board of Directors. The board will provide strategic oversight, governance, and leadership to help position the CVHA as a catalyst for senior government investment to help create new non-market rental housing within the region.
“We are looking for individuals with professional expertise in housing development and/or operations, finance and the legal sector to help shape a lasting solution to one of our region’s most pressing challenges” said CVRD Board Chair, Will Cole-Hamilton. “This is an opportunity for people who are interested in rolling up their sleeves to support the delivery of housing within the Comox Valley during this exciting start-up phase.”
Applicants are encouraged from a broad range of backgrounds, including but not limited to:
- Housing development and operation
- Finance and capital delivery
- Real estate and/or corporate law
- Community and partnerships
- Asset management
- Organizational governance and leadership
All appointments to the CVHA will be made by the CVRD Board of Directors. CVHA directors will be expected to attend regular meetings and participate in key governance activities.
