Dog Leashing Being Enforced in CVRD Parks and Trails

This spring and summer, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Bylaw team will be actively patrolling all CVRD parks and trails systems and fining those individuals who are not following dog leashing or dog-under-control requirements.

“Concerns remain about unleashed and out-of-control dogs in CVRD parks, chasing livestock, and harassing residents and visitors of our parks,” explains Mark Harrison, Manager of Parks. “We need to ensure park users are respecting the mandatory leashing and dogs-under-control requirements within our parks and trails systems. By respecting these rules and keeping your dogs under control, you are not only avoiding fines and ensuring leashing optional areas remain open, but you’re also protecting sensitive ecosystems, protecting and supporting our agricultural community, and ensuring a safe, welcoming experience for all residents.”

Fines relating to Electoral Area Parks regulations for failing to keep your dog under control or failing to restrain a dog on a leash in a park are $100.

The members of the regional district work collaboratively on providing sustainable services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
