The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking input from the community on the future of Spike Road Park and we want to hear from you.
From October 23 until December 4, residents are encouraged to complete a 3-5 minute survey to identify what park values and features are important to them. The survey can be completed at www.engagecomoxvalley.ca/spike.
“Your feedback is valuable in understanding what the community might want to see at Spike Road Park,” explains Electoral Area C Director Edwin Grieve. “Although there may be some restrictions to consider for the park such as ecologically sensitive wetlands, I look forward to learning what the community sees as the immediate and long-term direction for this vast and beautiful property.”
Parks staff will also be on site at the following locations to speak with residents and community interest groups.

Spike Road Park (gate entrance)
Spike Road Park is located in the Merville area and was established through three land acquisitions: a 74-acre parcel purchased in 2022, and two parcels with a combined area of 116 acres purchased in 2024, for a total of 190 acres. It was established to protect a large ecologically sensitive wetland known to support the Western Toad and to support the extension of the One Spot Trail through the 1,400-metre unopened road dedication, which goes through the property.
The park is located within the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of the land. The CVRD is committed to reconciliation and relationship building with Indigenous Peoples and recognizes and respects K’ómoks First Nation’s Rights and Title as a Treaty Nation. The property is also located within the Agricultural Land Reserve and is subject to provincial agricultural regulations and approvals.
The CVRD asks the public not to enter the park but rather stay on the One Spot Trail if travelling through the park, as staff work through the management planning process. For more information on park location, project updates, next steps and background information, visit http://www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/spike.
The Comox Valley Regional District is a partnership of three electoral areas and three municipalities operating on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of the land. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on providing sustainable services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
