The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Board is excited to announce that it has received a donation of 40 acres (16 hectares) of oceanfront property in the Merville area for use as a park.
“This is an incredibly kind donation that will benefit so many Comox Valley residents and visitors for years to come,” explains Electoral Area C Director Edwin Grieve. “The CVRD would like to thank Christopher Investments Ltd for this very generous gift.”
On May 13, the CVRD Board authorized staff to work with the donor to receive this donation through the federal government’s Ecological Gifts Program. The program provides a way for owners of ecologically sensitive land to protect nature and leave a legacy for future generations. The donation was finalized on September 29, 2022.
The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities operating on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of the land. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on providing sustainable services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
