Hornby and Denman Island Residents Encouraged to Register for High Speed Internet Referendum Information Sessions

On November 27, 2021 there will be an elector assent (referendum) in respect of the Hornby and Denman Islands high-speed internet initiative. The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) with CityWest will be offering online information sessions to provide details about the referendum, costs to residents, and the CityWest Service. These information sessions will include presentations by both CVRD and CityWest staff and a question and answer period.

“After careful thought and to ensure public safety during this ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, a decision was made to have these sessions available online and by telephone,” explains CVRD Electoral Area A Director Daniel Arbour. “We look forward to discussing the project and referendum details with the communities. A lot of work has gone into securing the 5.6 million dollar grant contribution from the Province and I know many residents are eager to move forward with this service.”

As a way to support public health guidelines during the pandemic and ensure sessions are accessible to everyone, the open houses will be available online through Zoom or can be attended by telephone. Recordings of each open house will be available following the events.

Residents are encouraged to register for a session by either signing up online at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/islandsinternet or by calling 250-334-6073.
