CVRD Seeks Input on Our Region, Our Future Parks

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking input from the community to review emerging directions for its Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan process. Feedback will help shape how the CVRD plans for, manages, and invests in new regional parks and trails over the next 20+ years.

The CVRD received valuable input from interest groups and partners in Phase One that helped shape the emerging directions for how the CVRD might plan for future Regional Parks and Trails here in the Comox Valley. Phase Two, starting now, is focused on sharing the emerging directions broadly with the community, to listen to ideas, and to understand community priorities for the future.

Residents are encouraged to drop-in to any of five in-person Community Open Houses taking place between January 24 and February 7 and / or participate in the Virtual Session on February 8 hosted on Zoom. The community survey will be open from January 15 through to February 19, available both online and in hard copy at open house events.

“Feedback is central to this process, including hearing from K’ómoks First Nation representatives, local and regional interest groups, and the general public,” says Daniel Arbour, Chair of the Regional Parks and Trails Committee. “We hope to see many Comox Valley residents provide their views on the priorities for the new regional parks service.”

All feedback gathered during engagement in January and February will be key to drafting the Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan in spring 2024. We anticipate Phase Three engagement to review the draft plan will be in the summer.
