The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is advising residents that the CVRD office at 770 Harmston Avenue will be re-opening for limited front counter services and public attendance at CVRD Board and Committee meetings starting Monday, July 13. The office has been closed to the public since March 17 to help limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Residents are asked to make use of online and telephone services first to help limit lineups and keep the public and staff safe. When in-person business cannot be avoided, residents are encouraged to call 250-334-6000 to make an appointment prior to arriving. The CVRD front counter services will be available 8:00 am until 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.
The CVRD has developed an office safety plan following WorkSafe BC, Public Health Agency of Canada and the BC Ministry of Health guidelines. In keeping with the orders and advice of public health authorities, visitors to the Harmston office will notice new protocols in place including:
- Increased safety measures that include a hand-sanitizing station upon arrival.
- Physical distancing and directional traffic signage reminders.
- Enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures for counters and other shared surfaces.
- Installation of physical plexiglass barriers at service counters to allow for the protection of employees and safer interaction.
“Upon arrival to the office for your scheduled appointment with staff, please ensure you avoid touching common touch points within the facility, refrain from putting personal items onto counters and remember to adhere to the 2 meter physical distancing requirements,” explains CVRD Chief Administrative Officer Russell Dyson. “Protecting your health and our staff is a top priority as we re-open our facility to the public.”
If you are showing Covid-19 like symptoms you are prohibited from entering the building. A free BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool is available to help assess your current health at https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en. If you are sick please call 250-334-6000 and your appointment will be rescheduled.
Public attendance at CVRD Board and Committee meetings will be permitted subject to physical distancing guidelines and with a maximum capacity of 30 people within the Civic Room being strictly enforced. While public attendance is permitted, residents are encouraged to watch board and committee meetings via livestreaming at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/livestream. Questions or feedback related to agenda items can be directed to the CVRD Legislative Services Department at 250-334-6000 or by email.
