Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre Update

The Comox Valley Regional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will remain open at the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) with the purpose of continuing to support registered evacuees and coordinate the transition from response to recovery activities.

As part of recovery, the group lodging facility will close Thursday, February 5 at 9 am and a Resiliency Centre will be opening on Monday, February 9. Supports have been organized with external partners to aid registered evacuees that self identified as needing extra help during this transition. The Resiliency Centre will be helping registered evacuees navigate the community supports available to them.

Details regarding the location and time for the Resiliency Centre will be available at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/eoc by noon, Friday, February 6th.

Residents affected by the flooding can visit the CVRD website for available resources on flood debris management. Clean-Up kits were kindly donated by the Canadian Red Cross. Each kit includes a mop, sponges, brooms, gloves and other supplies that can be used to safely clean flood-damaged homes and property.

Clean-Up Kits can be picked up at the Merville Firehall (7350 Island Highway) during the following times:

  • Thursday, February 5 | 1 – 6pm
  • Friday, February 6 | 1-6 pm
  • Saturday, February 7 | 9 – 2 pm
  • Sunday, February 8 | 9- 2 pm

Residents are encouraged to remain diligent as weather conditions can change suddenly. BC Hydro will be continuing to release water out of the reservoir in order to manage water levels. Please stay away from rivers, waterways and low-lying areas as water levels can change quickly. Tune in to your local news stations and monitor weather alerts and forecasts for information and updates.

Updated information will be posted on www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/eoc and on the Comox Valley Regional District social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky).
