The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), in partnership with the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Village of Cumberland, has completed a regional housing needs assessment. The findings of the work will help meet Goal No. 1 of the Regional Growth Strategy: Ensure a diversity of affordable housing options to meet evolving regional demographics and needs.
“In addition to collecting data from sources such as Statistics Canada, BC Assessment, the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board and BC Housing, we heard from many community members and organizations about their housing needs in the region”, explains Alana Mullaly, CVRD Senior Manager of Sustainability and Regional Growth Strategy Planning. “Now it’s time for the community to review the findings and start a region-wide conversation about the actions that we need to take to tackle our housing challenges. Please register for our online community forum on August 12 to hear a presentation of the findings and dig into what all of this data means for our community.”
Due to COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions currently in place, the CVRD will be hosting this community forum online through Zoom. Registration for this session will be required with a maximum of 100 attendees. A video of the session will be available on the website after the session for those who are not able to attend.
