History
The Comox Valley Regional District helped volunteers from the Denman Island Residents Association develop the park and concrete boat ramp between 1997 and 1998. A rock breakwater wall was added in 2002 and extended in 2009.
Background
Bill Mee Park is located on Crown land licensed to the Comox Valley Regional District for a boat launch. The Ministry of Transportation and Transit once used the area as a gravel pit until the supply ran out and subsequently used it for storing gravel, although the site had been dormant for many years. Bill Mee is the name of the man who operated the pit for years; since he lived next to it, the pit became known as Bill Mee Gravel Pit. When the site became a park, the community decided to continue to use Bill's name.
