With goals and objectives now set for the regional district’s sewer service liquid waste management plan (LWMP) for Comox and Courtenay, technical and public advisory committees are bringing a long-list of LWMP options to the public for preliminary review.
Two information sessions will be held at the end of January to update the public on the process to-date, introduce the long-list options and collect preliminary comments. Stop in at any time to review the information and chat with the project team.
- Wednesday, January 30, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, K’omoks First Nation Community Hall (located behind I-Hos Gallery, across the street from the Band Office)
- Thursday, January 31, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Rotary Hall (downstairs, Florence Filberg Centre)
“It’s particularly important at this stage to hear from residents about any options that may have been missed on the long list,” said Kris La Rose, Senior Manager, Water and Wastewater Services. “The next step is for our technical consultants to assess the options to help the advisory committees form a short list that we will bring back to the public. We don’t want to miss anything at this stage of the review.”
This planning process for Courtenay and Comox’s sewer service began in the summer of 2018 and will be moving towards the selection of a preferred option in fall 2019.
For those unable to attend in person, feedback will also be collected from January 30 to February 5 online at www.connectcvrd.ca/lwmp.

The photo pictured above shows the new covers recently installed on primary clarifiers at the CVRD's sewage treatment plant on Brent Road in Comox. This is one of the meansures undertaken last year to reduce odour at the plant.
