Learn more about traffic plans for Sewer Conveyance Project

Important upgrades to the Comox Valley’s sewer service are now underway, and the Comox Valley Regional District is sharing updates on how traffic will be managed during construction.

The Sewer Conveyance Project will see nine kilometres of new sewer forcemain installed from the Courtenay Pump Station, through Comox, and onto the wastewater treatment plant on Brent Road. The work will happen along key traffic corridors, and to address this the project team has completed significant assessments to create traffic plans to maintain flow and allow work to be completed in a timely manner.

For most of 2025, this will require one-way vehicle traffic along Comox Road, headed westward. Vehicle traffic heading into Comox from Courtenay (eastbound) will be redirected up Ryan Road to Lerwick Road. Bicycle travel will be maintained in both directions on Comox Road.

“We know this will have an impact on many people who rely on this route every day,” said Charlie Gore, Senior Manager of Capital Projects Delivery, CVRD. “This plan will keep the best flow for traffic and we’re focused on making sure people are prepared so they know the route and can plan their commute accordingly.”
