General Local Elections in the Comox Valley
General local elections are happening across the Comox Valley in October 2026. They include elections for municipal councils, regional district electoral area directors, the Board of Education, and Islands Trust trustees. The elections you are eligible to participate in depends on where you live and own property.

Local government elections throughout BC are held every four years and are conducted according to the rules and regulations set out in the Local Government Act. The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) conducts the elections for electoral area directors for Areas A (Baynes Sound – Denman/Hornby Islands), B (Lazo North), and C (Puntledge – Black Creek), as well as for local trustees for Islands Trust on Denman and Hornby islands, and school trustees for School District No. 71 in Trustee Electoral Areas 4, 5 and 6.
