Pay Transparency Reporting

The Government of British Columbia passed the Pay Transparency Act in 2023, to help close the gender pay gap in British Columbia. Under this legislation, employers with 300 employees or more on January 1, 2025 are required to post annual pay transparency reports by November 1, 2026.

Maintaining equitable pay practices in the workplace is a long-standing commitment of the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD). As of January 1, 2025, the CVRD employed 299 people, just below the 300-employee threshold that triggers mandatory reporting under B.C.’s Pay Transparency Act. Although the CVRD is not required to submit a report until November 2026, the organization has chosen to take a proactive approach by voluntarily reviewing and analyzing its compensation data.

This proactive approach reflects the CVRD’s strategic priorities and its ongoing commitment to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. It also ensures the organization can identify and address any potential pay gaps within the workplace.
The CVRD’s Pay Transparency Report is based on pay data from the 2025 fiscal year and compares the average hourly pay of men, women, and non-binary employees at the CVRD. The data presented is aggregated and does not compare pay at the individual job level.

This report and the associated data help the CVRD better understand current pay patterns and support the development of strategies to address, reduce, and remove systemic barriers to pay equity.
