The Ministry of Health requires employers to have a communicable disease plan in place to protect the health and safety of all employees and visitors. The CVRD follows this plan and all WorkSafeBC requirements, including a pandemic exposure control plan to ensure a healthy, safe workplace at all CVRD offices and worksites.
Participating in Recreation Activities:
By Order of the Provincial Health Officer, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) will be requiring patrons to provide proof of vaccination at both the Sports and Aquatic Centre’s for all adults (22 years and over) when attending for the following activities:
Vaccine Passport Required:
✅ Adult hockey lessons (22 and over).
✅ Adult ice rentals and drop in hockey’s (22 & over) including Partnered hockey league
✅ Events including 22 & over (ex: adult tournaments & ticketed events Junior B).
✅ Aquatic & Sports Centre’s Gyms, fitness studios, wellness centres.
Exempt Activities – Vaccine Passport NOT Required:
❌ Skating lessons/pro d-day camps/rentals.
❌ Youth sports (Junior hockey, Minor hockey, figure skating, ringette practices) – this includes player, caregivers, parents, coaches, and safety persons.
❌Youth events - (games/tournaments) player & coaches are exempt. This includes spectators (including caregivers, parents) & safety persons.
❌Swimming pool programming/lessons/rentals - this includes adult drop-in swim.
Additional measures have been put in place to assist with physical distancing and class management. All Participants in Red Cross Swimming Lessons up to level 4 inclusive, must have a parent/guardian in the water with them. This change is effective September 7, and until further notice.
Please also note, masks are required in all of our facilities for persons aged nine and older, unless actively participating in recreation programs.
