WATER METERING PROGRAM

The Comox Valley Regional District has implemented a mandatory water metering program for all residences and business in the Comox Valley water local service areas.

Under this system, customers will pay for the water they actually use.  This system will also help to keep better track of water consumption, detect water loss more quickly and encourage more efficient use of water.

The water metering program is currently in a demonstration phase.  Mock bills have been mailed out to provide customers with an understanding of what their water consumption is like and how much the water will cost. This demonstration phase, which will continue through November 2013, will also allow the CVRD to ensure that the proposed water rates are sufficient for generating enough funding to cover the costs of treatment and delivery of the water.
