Idle Free Logo

10 seconds of idling your vehicle uses more fuel than restarting your engine.
Turning off your engine while you wait is a great FIRST step towards cleaner air for all
of us

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is supporting a new clean air initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Environment  (MOE)  and the Youth Climate Leadership Alliance  (YCLA) to raise awareness about unnecessary vehicle idling in BC.  The CVRD is hosting an ambassador for the Comox Valley.

The idle-free ambassadors' vision is:
*
Inspiring BC to be idle-free *
(video download 5 MB)

Key elements of the anti-idling ini tiative include building community partnerships; collecting information about driving and idling habits; creating idle-free zones around schools, hospitals and local government buildings; and promoting simple strategies in which individuals can take part.

BECAUSE YOU CARE FOR CLEAN AIR!

PLEDGE to be IDLE FREE! *

Even the most modern fuel-efficient vehicles produce harmful emissions while running. These are a collection of poison gases, toxic metals, and microscopic particles that, when inhaled, aren’t necessarily exhaled.
