MEETINGS
The regional board annually elects a chair of the board and that person may establish committees to deal with various issues (such as administration, finance, building, planning, environmental management, recreation, etc.) These committees normally meet once a month and recommendations from the committees are forwarded to a monthly meeting of the regional board for ratification.
Attending Committee or Board Meetings
Committee and board meetings are usually held during the day in the regional district boardroom. The website calendar (accessible from the lower left portion of this webpage) lists all upcoming committee and board meetings, including dates, times and locations.
Meetings are open to the public, although the public may be excluded from certain parts because items are of a sensitive or confidential nature. This portion of the meeting is said to be “in-camera”.
Request to appear as a delegation
Delegates may address committees of the board to make presentations about issues affecting the Comox Valley Regional District. To appear before a committee, you must submit a request in writing to the legislative services department ten days prior to the meeting at which you wish to appear. If there is not an available time slot, you will be contacted by a staff member to make alternative arrangements for your request. Due to time constraints, it is necessary to limit delegation appearances to 10 minutes. Your letter should include your name, address, and telephone number. Please state the nature of your request and provide a short description on the details of your presentation.
Late delegations
Any person or organization who has not appeared before an appropriate board committee and who, because of circumstances, could not have been expected to appear before a board committee or give earlier notice, may request to appear as a delegation before the board by advising the manager of legislative services prior to the board meeting.
