EMERGENCY PROGRAM

Good planning is the key to success in many things in life, and being ready to care for ourselves and our families following an emergency is one area where planning can make a life-altering difference.

Emergency programs are of paramount importance to all local governments, including the Comox Valley Regional District. The Comox Valley Emergency Program functions as a partnership between Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland and the regional district to provide coordinated emergency programming to the Comox Valley.

The program is delivered by Mike Fournier, the emergency program coordinator and Mike Hatcher, the deputy coordinator. The purpose of integrating emergency program is to ensure that each area’s plans are in harmony with each other, since emergencies can transcend geographic and political borders.

These programs are responsible for emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery for their respective communities. In addition to government planning for emergencies, it’s also essential that we plan – as individuals – for our own safety and disaster recovery. Neighbourhood emergency preparedness (NEPP) courses are held throughout the year to train people to care for themselves.

This website will provide information on personal preparedness as well as, over time, include additional information about the CVEP and NCEP plans and programs.
