Snap Selfies and Stuff the Bus to Win with CVRD’s In2Transit Campaign

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is launching the 2016 In2Transit campaign, building on the success of the 2015 selfie rewards program, by introducing a series of fun-filled “Stuff the Bus” events beginning this weekend at “Elevate the Arts” in downtown Courtenay.

This year’s In2Transit promotion runs from June through November, with final winners announced on December 7th. Like last year, entering is easy. Simply ride the bus and either take a selfie and post it to your favourite social media channel using #In2Transit, or alternatively sign the backside of an In2Transit ticket obtained at special events and drop it off with your bus driver. Monthly winners will be chosen from the tickets and selfies submitted each month and three grand prize winners will be chosen from all submissions throughout the campaign.

“During our special transit service to the 2015 Comox Air Show we transported over 80 standing passengers in a single bus. Now we want to see how many we can fit into a parked bus!” said Michael Zbarsky, CVRD’s manager of transit and sustainability. “So this year, we’re adding an additional element, which literally aims to get people In2Transit. Our first event is this Saturday between 2 and 3 p.m. at the Broken Spoke, where we’re going to see how many people we can stuff into the bus. We’ll then be challenging other events or groups to see if they can beat the record.”

“Stuff the Bus” participants will also be entered to win In2Transit prizes. Details on this promotion and where to get In2Transit tickets, and how and where to participate in the special events, can be found online at www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/in2transit or by tuning into our media partner 98.9 The Goat FM at: www.mycomoxvalleynow.com/the-goat

Monthly prizes include gift certificates to businesses and restaurants on bus routes, such as the Broken Spoke and Caffè Amantes. The grand prizes are $500 in cash, a prize from My Tech Guys, and $50 gift certificates to local fine dining restaurants along Comox Valley bus routes.

“The business community really got on board with In2Transit and we appreciate their support,” said Zbarsky. “Try transit when going to work, school, shopping, or anywhere else your life may take you, and support the businesses located along our local bus routes.”
