Description  

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking a Bylaw Compliance Officer to join our Corporate Services branch. The Bylaw Compliance Department provides the citizens of the Regional District with a variety of services related to regulatory issues.  Bylaw Compliance currently deals with the animal control, building regulations, bylaw complaints, fireworks, land use (planning), noise control and unsightly premises.

Under the supervision/direction of the Manager of Bylaw Compliance this position would ensures bylaw compliance in accordance with bylaw enforcement policy and procedures and respond to and investigate complaints of alleged infractions of CVRD regulatory bylaws.

  • Have the ability to diffuse and negotiate within potentially highly volatile environments.
  • Have strong knowledge of provincial statutes and law enforcement and have exceptional skills with communicating effectively with members of the community, local authorities, and government officials.
  • Have at least 2 to 4 years of direct related experience in enforcement fields preferably within local government supplemented with course up to six months in Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills – Levels 1 and 2.
