Good planning is key to being ready to care for ourselves and our families following an emergency.
Emergency programs are vital to all local governments. The Comox Valley Emergency Program (CVEP) functions as a partnership between Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland and the CVRD to provide coordinated emergency programming to the Comox Valley.
These programs are responsible for emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery for their respective communities. In addition to government planning for emergencies, it's also essential that we plan – as individuals – for our own safety and disaster recovery. Neighbourhood emergency preparedness (NEPP) courses are held throughout the year to train people to care for themselves.
We launched a test of our emergency notification banner on our website in conjunction with 2015 ShakeOut BC Day. This is how our website will appear in the event of an emergency (i.e. flood, earthquake, boil water notice, etc.) Each webpage will have the active banner displayed at the top and you can click on the banner that will redirect you to the emergency details.
