1. COMOX VALLEY WATER SUPPLY COMMISSION
The directors for each of the three CVRD electoral areas and representative appointed from each of the three Comox Valley municipal governments make up the Comox Valley water supply commission. Each municipality has the same number of members on the commission as they have directors on the CVRD board and these members are appointed by the municipal councils. Furthermore, at the board meeting of January 26th, 2010 a further commission member from the K'omoks First Nation was added.
2. STEERING COMMITTEE
The chief administrative officers from each of the four Comox Valley local governments make up the steering committee. The steering committee will lead the activities of the Comox Valley water supply commission at the administrative level, which include:
- directing staff resources as required to support the project;
- reviewing and considering policy initiatives;
- ensure an integrated and collaborative approach to the numerous planning initiatives underway; and
- making all recommendations to the political level
3. ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The provincial governments requirement for an advisory body allows the board to appoint members representing improvement districts, First Nations, community groups, environmental organizations, government bodies or other specific agencies the board considers appropriate.
The primary purpose of the advisory body is to bring to the Comox Valley water supply commission other governmental interests, programs and policies that may have a direct bearing on the local plans. At the very least, these other interests must be recognized for the influence they can and will have on the project and ways and means they can support its implementation.
