The Brian and Sarah McLoughlin Story
The Foxglove Life Estate protects approximately 4 hectares (11 acres) of older second growth forest and sensitive ocean foreshore in the Comox Valley.
Upon the expiry of the current landowners life estate, the land will be donated to the Comox Valley Regional District to be managed as a wilderness park under the terms of a conservation covenant that details the donors' conservation wishes. Until this time, the donors retain all their rights to occupy and use the land. The conservation covenant is held in trust by Comox Valley Land Trust and The Land Conservancy of BC.
When the Foxglove Life Estate was established, the gift qualified for Environment Canada's Ecological Gift program, which recognized the land as ecologically sensitive and enabled the donors to realize significant tax savings.
